The Department of Educational Science is involved in a variety of endeavours in the field of fundamental research and application-oriented research. With the help of qualitative and quantitative approaches, the projects aim to e.g. improve schools and teaching, answer questions about the implementation of inclusion or the importance of socio-emotional factors in the school learning process.
Numerous academics from the Department of Educational Science are involved in the “Quality Initiative in Teacher-Training Programmes [de]” project that is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and aims to improve teacher training. Various sub-projects are currently being carried out within this framework; find out more about them on the project homepage. In addition, various efforts are being made to further the development of teacher training, such as the "Doing School" project or support from peer mentors at the start of studies.
